Raymond Max Blizzard, 84, of Charleston passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
He was born May 29, 1924, in Bayard and was a son of the late James Marshall and Cleo Ruth Blizzard.
Raymond was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston. He was a member and Past Master of Kanawha Masonic Lodge 20, York Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine.
He was a graduate of Bayard High School, Potomac State College, and West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts Degree. He served with the 13th Airborne Division in France. He was employed as a brakeman for the Western Maryland Railroad Company, Cumberland, Md., was an assistant manager of the West Virginia University Bookstore, taught school in Lorain, Ohio, and worked 11 years for West Virginia Department of Agriculture as fiscal director. He retired in 1988 after 18 years as an assistant director of Employment Security.
